Announcing Symphony OCR Integration with PracticeMaster

Software Technology, Inc. (STI) is excited to work with Trumpet to integrate Symphony OCR with PracticeMaster’s document management feature. Symphony OCR is a fully integrated OCR (Optical Character Recognition) product that will provide PracticeMaster customers with a more comprehensive document management solution.

Text searches are great, but without OCR software, image-based PDFs are not text searchable.  Symphony OCR gives users the confidence of knowing that all documents will be found when using PracticeMaster’s text search functionality.

Symphony OCR runs as a “back-end” process, continuously monitoring PracticeMaster for any new documents that need to be OCRed. Once Symphony OCR determines a document needs to be OCRed, it automatically OCRs the document.  Symphony OCR will also review all existing saved documents and OCR them when necessary.

Symphony OCR is designed as software that “just works”. Once the software is installed there is no manual interaction needed to OCR documents.

For additional questions about Symphony OCR for PracticeMaster please contact Robin Houston at [email protected] or 480.961.6003 ext. 7.

Thank you in advance for helping with the pre-release of Version 18.  It’s going to be a great release.  Please let me know if you have any questions.

Scott Baird

P.S.  Don’t forget to recruit clients (especially firms that use GL and Trust) so that we can get Version 18 to market quickly.  Feel free to share the features in the What’s New List with individual clients and prospects. Once a client is ready, use this form (www.tabs3.com/prerelease) to sign them up or use the email template we created below.

Good morning,

Dan Berlin, the President of Tabs3 Software, just called to let me know I can include a few of my clients in the pre-release of Version 18, and I immediately thought of you.

Version 18 is full of solid enhancements, especially for firms with Tabs3 Financial Software. The reconciliation process in Tabs3 General Ledger Software (GLS) and Tabs3 Trust Accounting Software (TAS) has been completely redesigned to include fewer steps, and to be better. For example, if you happen to enter in the wrong payment date or clear a transaction by mistake, the new Undo Reconciliation feature makes it quick and painless to make corrections.

Here are some additional Version 18 highlights from the What’s New List that Dan sent me:

  • Import Bank Transactions – Save time by importing transactions downloaded from your bank’s website directly into Tabs3 General Ledger and Trust Accounting software. The software will automatically create “matched transactions” for you to review.
  • Automatic Trust Payments – Using settings you define, automatically create a payment from your client’s trust account when you generate your client’s statement. You can also combine trust transactions for easier reconciliation.
  • Enhanced Reconciliation – Easily enter Interest and Service Charge adjustments. The new Undo Reconciliation program lets you undo reconciliations performed in Version 18 or later.
  • Improved Fee and Cost Entry – Use the Fee Recap icon for a summary of fees entered for a timekeeper on a specified date. See which rate you charge when adding or changing a fee and cost entry in PracticeMaster, as well as when using the Convert to Fee feature.
  • Date-Based Reports – All period-based reports in Tabs3 Billing are now date based, which means they can be run for previous months, and no longer rely on advancing the current reporting month.

I hope you are interested in the pre-release of Version 18. If you are interested, just visit Tabs3.com/PreRelease for further instructions. If you are not interested, please let me know, so that I can offer this opportunity to another firm.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Thanks,

(Your name)

Changes to Platinum Exchange Connector

The Platinum Exchange Connector integrates with Exchange via the same API that Outlook uses – the Microsoft Messaging API (MAPI). Historically there have been two providers of MAPI, Outlook and a stand-alone program called Exchange MAPI. The Platinum Exchange Connector has always supported both providers up until now.

The Exchange MAPI provider is no longer supported by Microsoft. Therefore, effective immediately, we will no longer support the installation of Exchange MAPI on Platinum servers, and instead will require firms to install Microsoft Outlook 2007 SP3 or later on their Platinum server in order to integrate with our Platinum Exchange Connector. Although firms will need to acquire an additional Outlook license, eliminating Exchange MAPI will provide a more stable and overall better experience. We have updated our documentation to reflect this change. Knowledge Base Article R11596 includes information on configuring the Platinum Exchange Connector.
