The Platinum Exchange Connector integrates with Exchange via the same API that Outlook uses – the Microsoft Messaging API (MAPI). Historically there have been two providers of MAPI, Outlook and a stand-alone program called Exchange MAPI. The Platinum Exchange Connector has always supported both providers up until now.
The Exchange MAPI provider is no longer supported by Microsoft. Therefore, effective immediately, we will no longer support the installation of Exchange MAPI on Platinum servers, and instead will require firms to install Microsoft Outlook 2007 SP3 or later on their Platinum server in order to integrate with our Platinum Exchange Connector. Although firms will need to acquire an additional Outlook license, eliminating Exchange MAPI will provide a more stable and overall better experience.
