Version 2022, Build 22.1.7.647, includes a change to the Reindex Files window allowing users to select individual Email Attachment (CMARC*) files to reindex. This change will shorten the amount of time it takes to reindex when you only need to reindex one file.

On April 30th, we posted an update to the Platinum software for Version 2020. This update includes the following changes:
Update while Users are in the Software – We made changes that now allow you to install updates to the Platinum software as long as all users have run the setup program on their local workstation. This will make it easier to update during the day instead of having to wait until after hours. After the update is finished, users can close their program and relaunch it when it is convenient for them in order to receive the update. The only time everyone will need to exit the software in order to install an update is when an STI Server component needs to be updated, which is not very often. You will have to install this update from the server as it does include a director update.
Accelerator Configuration – This update also includes a change to how we handle the network address and port numbers for the accelerators on new installs. You no longer need to configure port numbers for the accelerators. The port numbers will be assigned by the operating system. Port number configuration for the Accelerators has been moved to an Advanced Accelerator Configuration window which shouldn’t need to be used often.
Existing firms will continue to use their previously assigned port numbers. If you encounter a firm experiencing issues due to port conflicts with other software, you can clear the settings in the Advanced Accelerator Configuration window and let the Operating System take care of the assignments.
Accelerator Status – You can now check the accelerator status in Help | About for both Tabs3 and PracticeMaster. Tabs3 it will show the T3Accel Current Status as Connected if they are working. It will show as Local if they are not. For PracticeMaster it is the PMAccel Current Status.
We are excited to update you on a few changes we’ve made to help improve the experience firms have when converting to a newer version. Earlier this fall, we posted improvements to the Version 19 and Version 2020 conversion programs that reduce the possibility of failures due to network or file locking issues because of third party programs such as antivirus.
On December 23, we posted additional improvements to the Version 2020 conversion program, one of which allows you to restart an interrupted conversion. However, we do not recommend attempting to restart the conversion more than once unless the failure was caused by an outside factor such as a power failure or closing the program before it completed the conversion.
In the rare event that the conversion from Version 19 to Version 2020 is interrupted, before restoring from a backup, we recommend you contact Tabs3 Technical Support with a screenshot, the conversion log, and the error log so that we can track down exactly what’s preventing the conversion from completing.
Taskbill Resources
Dec 23
Taskbill exports billed fee and cost transactions from Tabs3 Billing in an electronic format. Exported data can then be sent to companies that require electronic billing in a specific format. Using Taskbill can be challenging due to the increasing number of formats and configuration options available. To help make this process easier, the following resources are available:
- New Video – eBilling Using Tabs3 and Taskbill walks users through the basics of configuring and exporting statements using Taskbill.
- Knowledge Base Article R11737, “Configuring and Using Taskbill,” is a one stop shop for Taskbill configuration and export instructions.
- Knowledge Base Article R11769, “LEDES 1998B Subformat Information for Taskbill,” breaks down the most commonly used eBilling format (LEDES 1998B) with details for where field information is pulled from and how the export file will look.
You asked for drill-down capabilities on the Tabs3 Billing Dashboard, and we’ve added them!
In the Platinum version, clicking a bar or total in the Accounts Receivable and Work-in-Process widgets will open a window with a list of clients that make up that total. Additionally, the amounts are broken down to show each client’s fees, expenses, advances, and more. Clicking on a client from that list will then open a Client Manager window for that client.
This new feature was added in Platinum Version 20.1.3.302, which was posted on October 17, 2019.
NetDocuments is out of Pre-Release! NetDocuments integrates with PracticeMaster without requiring NDLink or an ODBC driver! Check out these great integration features:
- Clients added or modified in PracticeMaster, Tabs3, or Trust Accounting are automatically synchronized to NetDocuments.
- Performing a conflict of interest search in PracticeMaster can optionally include your NetDocuments repository.
- Documents assigned to a client in NetDocuments can be accessed from the PracticeMaster Matter Manager and Client windows.
Download Version 19.1.12 to get all of the new NetDocuments features.
For more information on how NetDocuments integrates with PracticeMaster, see KB Article R11786, “NetDocuments Integration.”
