Understanding Client Server Version (CSV) Webinars

When Maintenance lapses you have an opportunity

The quality of our support and our updates are just a few reasons why we have one of the best maintenance renewal rates in the industry.  However, a small percentage of firms do not renew their maintenance.  It is valuable for you and us to find out why.  They may have a new person in place that needs some training, they may not have installed the last update and could use some assistance, or they may be thinking of moving on to another system because they don’t understand everything Tabs3 and PracticeMaster can do for them.  All are great opportunities for you to generate business.

We will let you know when a firm lets maintenance expire.  Our Client Service reps e-mail each firm and carbon copies their reseller.  When you see this, jump on it.  Find out how you can help them, and let us know why they haven’t renewed.  Then we can complement your conversations with our follow up.  Again, these are great business opportunities, and we look forward to working with you on these when they come up.

Timeslips Discount

We have offered a 20% discount to existing Timeslips customers switching to Tabs3 Software for years, and this popular promotion will continue.  Beginning today, the maximum discount that a firm can receive by switching to Tabs3 from Timeslips will be $200.  You will soon see this change reflected on the web site.  As a reminder, it only applies towards a new purchased license of Tabs3 (including Client Server), and firms must provide us with proof of purchase to receive their discount.

Palm Conduits

Since Palm has not made any changes to the Palm Development Kit since 2004, we will not be providing a Palm Conduit for Version 16 PracticeMaster.  The most current Palm Development Kit that Palm provides to software companies was released in 2004.  The Palm Development Kit was not designed to work with the tools that our programmers use today.  Palm also stopped selling devices that use this technology in 2007, so we feel this will affect a relatively few number of users.  In addition, we have made significant improvements with Outlook synchronization in Version 16 which will provide a much better user experience when synchronizing handheld devices to PracticeMaster through Outlook.

Version 16 Betas

Version 16 Beta is right around the corner and is packed with features that clients will love.  Here are just a few of the new features that you will see in Version 16:

• A new easy, more automated way to e-mail statements to clients
• New Client Inactivity Report in Tabs3
• Automatic two-way Microsoft Outlook synchronization of contacts and calendar entries in PracticeMaster
• PracticeMaster Premier WorkFlows to automate and make sure that you don’t forget tasks and procedures (e.g., when you save a new client, get prompted to add a calendar entry for your first meeting, etc.)
• Enhanced Contact Management in Tabs3, PracticeMaster, and Tabs3 Trust Accounting
• New Log Off User feature for Client Server Versions 
• Enhanced Outlook Sync with Exchange Server for Client Server Version users

Software Leasing

With the increase in Client Server Version (CSV) sales over the past year, we have seen an increase in the number of firms interested in working with a leasing company to finance the purchase of Tabs3 and PracticeMaster licenses.  It can be a great way for firms to make a needed investment in technology without the upfront capital investment.  We think that most leasing companies today understand that almost all software, including Tabs3 and PracticeMaster, is licensed for use and not sold.  However, some leasing companies will not lease anything that they cannot get physical ownership of in case of default.  This would exclude software from being leased through these companies.  It would be prudent of you to remind your customers to make sure they discuss this point with the leasing company they are dealing with.

Client Server Orders and Maintenance

We previously required firms upgrading to CSV to purchase a year of maintenance on any product with prorated maintenance set to expire within 60 days of their order.  We no longer do.  However, we still highly recommend purchasing maintenance in this circumstance.  Purchasing maintenance with new Server Software and new Client Server Versions of Tabs3 and PracticeMaster is still mandatory for the first year.  Our Sales Team can always provide you with pricing and prorated expiration dates.
