Tabs3 Transporter

We have developed a new program called Tabs3 Transporter, which makes data conversions from Timeslips to Tabs3 easier and more efficient. 

Tabs3 Transporter has been thoroughly tested by our quality assurance department, but before we release Tabs3 Transporter publicly, we would like the opportunity to test it in our office with Timeslips data from a few more firms. For a limited time, we will offer free conversions from Timeslips to Tabs3.

The free conversion will be limited to what the Tabs3 Transporter can do, and will not apply to some older versions of Timeslips.  Any work beyond that will be billable. 

This is a great opportunity for Timeslips users to convert to Tabs3!  We’ve e-mailed our direct leads that are Timeslips users looking for candidates, and suggest you do the same.

The data converted from Timeslips can include:

  • Client information
  • Aged accounts receivable balances by timekeeper and cost type
  • All billed and unbilled fee, cost, and payment transactions
  • All tcodes, task codes, and task code sets
  • All timekeepers, timekeeper rates, and timekeeper levels
  • Billing frequencies
  • E-mail templates
  • Database abbreviations (text macros)
  • Firm information
  • Accounts receivable aging period configuration
  • Client and timekeeper terminology

Available Products

Our marketing materials and web site currently show prices for single user 2 and 5 timekeeper products, and multi-user pricing for 2, 5, 9 and 19 timekeeper products.  We have changed our policy so that only the products listed in our marketing materials are available.  This change will provide a better customer experience as firms will purchase products more appropriate for their size.  Please contact your sales representative with immediate exceptions or questions.

Billing Rate Changes

Effective March 1st, 2012, the price for standard billable support time will increase, as will charges for other billable work.  It has been about seven years since changes to the standard billable support rate were last made.  Below are the new costs for work we do in-house.  A change has also been made to the cost of COPYT3.EXE software, which is noted.

Standard Billable Rate for Support Calls – $50 per quarter hour 

Data Evaluation, Repairs and Merges by Programmers

  • $200/hour for maintenance users
  • $300/hour for non-maintenance users

 Data Evaluation, Repairs and Merges by Quality Assurance or a Specialist

  • $37.50 per quarter hour for maintenance users
  • $50 per quarter hour for non-maintenance users

 Conversions from Third Party Software by Programmers

  • $100 per hour   (This rate is not changing.)

 In-house Conversions

  • $120/hour for PracticeMaster conversions
  • $120/hour for Critical Date conversions to PracticeMaster
  • $150/hour for Profit$ource conversions to Tabs3 (not to exceed $500)

 COPYT3.EXE Software 

  • Old purchase price:  $75 for maintenance users; $150 for non-maintenance users.
  • New purchase price:  $150 for maintenance users; $200 for non-maintenance users.

Discontinuation of Maintenance cards

As recently announced, we will be including the first year of maintenance with all new purchases effective March 1, 2012.  As a result of including maintenance with new purchases, maintenance cards will no longer be sent out with new or upgrade purchases.

Tabs3 Connect

Are you getting questions about mobility?  We are very excited about a new product in development that will connect attorneys to Tabs3 and PracticeMaster while they are away from the office.  It is called Tabs3 Connect.  It will work on any tablet, smartphone, or laptop that uses a standard web browser.  We plan to offer this product free to Tabs3 and PracticeMaster Platinum users on maintenance later this year.  

Below are features found in Tabs3 Connect that sync real time with Tabs3 and PracticeMaster data at the office.

Tabs3 and PracticeMaster Quick Start Guides are now available and are included on all software CDs. These guides are short manuals designed for users who are new to Tabs3 and PracticeMaster software to help them get started quickly. Sunset of Version 12

As a reminder, effective January 1, 2012, we will no longer support Version 12 and earlier of Tabs3 and PracticeMaster software.  Please advise clients using these older versions that they need to update in order to receive future support. 

Version 12 users are being informed of this each time they speak with a Technical Support Representative, and our user newsletter has made note of it three times over the last year.  Please contact Client Services for pricing information, or to place an order.

New Training Videos Available

We are currently in the process of updating all of our training videos for Tabs3 and PracticeMaster version 16. Many videos are completed, including new videos for Matter Manager, E-mail Statements, WorkFlows, Outlook Plug-in, and more. When you update program files for firms who already have Version 16 installed, make it a point to update the training videos at the same time. Encourage all your firms to watch the videos for the newer features, especially before any training you provide. The length of each video is shown on the main table of contents page.

Videos can be downloaded from http://www.tabs3.com/support/docs.html. After downloading the VIDEOPM.EXE and VIDEOT3.EXE files from the links on this page, install them into the Tabs3 and PracticeMaster Current Working Directory. To determine the Current Working Directory, log into Tabs3 or PracticeMaster and select Help | About from the menu. Videos can be launched from the Tabs3 & PracticeMaster folder in your Start menu, from the Help | Training Videos menu, or from links in the Help topics.

Note: When updating the training videos, make sure you also update the program files so that the most current help files and video links are also installed.
