Recent Version 17.1 Changes

We recently posted updated programs that include the following enhancements (Version 17.1.2.992):

  • In Accounts Payable, the Data File Integrity Check now checks for duplicate Federal ID numbers in the vendor file and reports an error 6 if duplicates are encountered. Step-by-step procedures to resolve this situation can be found in Knowledge Base article R11625, DFIC Error 6 – Duplicate Federal ID.
  • In Tabs3, the column headings for the split billing summary on statements now uses lines 49, 51, and 52 (billing history headings) instead of lines 9, 25, and 27 (section headings).
  • In Taskbill, the Ledes 1998B format now allows customization for the billing start and end dates. You can find details in the Taskbill documentation in the Knowledge Base.
  • The CD has been changed to launch the installer directly, which streamlines the installation process.

Customers with new Serial Numbers

When you purchase an upgrade order for a customer, be sure to let them know the new serial numbers from the invoice.

Firms on version 16 and earlier who purchase an upgrade need to update to version 17. To download the update to version 17, they need to enter their new serial number, which changes when they upgrade. The old serial numbers will not work as they are no longer on maintenance due to the upgrade.

We have received a number of tech support calls from firms wanting to know their new serial number. The new serial number(s) can be found on the invoice that is e-mailed to you with your installation instructions after you’ve placed the order. Forwarding these to your customer will eliminate their need to call support, and provide them with a better customer service experience.

Sunset of Versions 15.1 and 15.2

Effective June 1, 2015, we will no longer support versions 15.1 and 15.2 of the Tabs3 and PracticeMaster software. We will continue supporting version 15.3 through June 1, 2016. Knowledge Base article R11050 provides additional information about the product life cycle of Tabs3 and PracticeMaster software.

Please advise clients using these older versions that they will need to update in order to receive support after June 1 of next year.  We stopped selling version 15.2 in January 2010, so it will have been supported for more than five years.

The June 2014 User Newsletter has an announcement on the sunsetting of versions 15.1 and 15.2.  Clients using version 15.1 or 15.2 will be reminded each time they speak with a Technical Support Representative.  Please contact the Sales Departments for pricing information, or to place an order.

Recent Version 17.1 Changes

We recently posted updated programs that include the following enhancements (Version 17.1.2.918):

  • EFTs can now be included on deposit slips in Tabs3 General Ledger Software. The Select Receipts to Deposit window in GLS now has an Other option, which includes receipts with a type of EFT, Client Funds, and Other.
  • The PracticeMaster Toolbar Plug-in for Corel WordPerfect has been updated to work with the newly released WordPerfect X7.

Updating Contacts from Version 15 and Earlier

At our recent Reseller Forum, Brenda Bickford from our staff presented how to restructure duplicate contacts.  When firms are converting from Versions 15 and prior, duplicate contacts can be created if they have been inconsistent with their client data entry. Unfortunately, not everyone was able to attend her informative session, and many have requested that we offer a webinar recording, which is now available.  The recording itself is just about 40 minutes.

Tabs3 System Requirements

Microsoft ended support for Windows XP on April 8, 2014. As a result, we have been receiving inquiries regarding which operating systems we support. We no longer test Tabs3 and PracticeMaster running under Window XP because this operating system is no longer supported by its manufacturer.  Although Version 17 of our software runs under Windows XP, we cannot support any operating system or hardware related issues on workstations running under this discontinued operating system.

We test and support Tabs3 and PracticeMaster software running under Windows 8, Windows 7, and Windows Vista. The software also runs under Windows Server 2012, Windows Server 2008, and Windows Server 2003 (including Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows Server 2008 R2, and Windows Small Business Server 2011).  If your clients have computers running under Windows XP, we recommend you work with them to implement a plan to upgrade those operating systems and/or computers.

Additionally, we added “Internet access recommended” to our list of system requirements. You can find current system requirements in Knowledge Base article R11546 – Tabs3 and PracticeMaster Software System Requirements.

New Reseller Pricing Sheet

A new reseller pricing sheet is available right here on eNews!  Changes include the addition of Tabs3 Connect subscription costs, a breakdown of software and maintenance costs, as well as maintenance renewal amounts.  This document can be found by clicking on Marketing, Pricing, then Reseller Pricing.

Tabs3 Logo Shirts are Available

Once again, Tabs3 logo shirts are available for order.  They are perfect attire for trade shows or meetings with potential customers. Each shirt is custom ordered and embroidered with our logo.
