  • Performing a conflict of interest search in PracticeMaster can optionally include your NetDocuments repository.
  • Documents assigned to a client in NetDocuments can be accessed from the PracticeMaster Matter Manager and Client windows.

Download Version 19.1.12 to get all of the new NetDocuments features.

For more information on how NetDocuments integrates with PracticeMaster, see KB Article R11786, “NetDocuments Integration.”

eBillingHub Integration

Do you have firms interested in managing their electronic billing better? eBillingHub is a third party service that helps law firms manage high volumes of electronic billing to automate the task based billing process.

The Platinum SQL version of Tabs3 is required for this integration, but it does not require Taskbill. KB Article R11499 (eBillingHub Contact Information) provides additional information about this integration.

Regarding the use of eBillingHub, Paul Purdue said, “I have several clients using it, and they are thrilled with the results! It seems expensive at first glance, but has paid for itself many times over in each installation.”

For questions or needed assistance, please contact Ken Wineke at eBillingHub.

CosmoLex Information and Registration of CosmoLex Leads

It’s good to see so many of you expressing interest in and becoming certified with CosmoLex. Below are a few tips and resources you may find useful.

Registering Leads

It is common for consultants to find prospects through their own marketing efforts. Be sure to register any CosmoLex lead as soon as you get them. In order to receive compensation for a CosmoLex sale, you must register a lead that isn’t already active in the CosmoLex database. The sooner you register it the less chance you have of it getting into their system as a direct prospect. You can register leads here:

https://partners.cosmolex.com/register-your-lead

When registering leads you even have the ability to check a box asking CosmoLex to contact the prospect to schedule a demo.

Sunset of Version 17

As of October 31st, we are no longer supporting Version 17 of Tabs3 software. Please inform clients using Version 17 that they will need to update in order to receive support. You can use your QBR to determine who these firms are and use the data to generate sales and billable work.

After October 31st we will no longer support firms on Version 16 and older even if they are on maintenance. We did sunset Version 16 last summer but have done our best to support these users who are still on maintenance.

Users of Version 17 and prior will be reminded of these changes when they speak with a Technical Support Representative.  Please contact the Sales Department or [email protected] for questions or update pricing information. We will be offering a discount on updates this summer that will include a full year of maintenance in an attempt to get as many firms on the current version as we can. In addition, a 20% discount on updates will be available to consultants going forward.

Check Out the New Training Videos!

We have been working hard over the last couple of months to add new training and promotional videos to the Tabs3 website (Tabs3.com/videos) that showcase Version 19 and a variety of new features. Some of the more notable videos include the Tabs3 Billing Basics, PracticeMaster Overview, and Platinum Overview (listed below). Our goal is to continue adding new content and to update the existing Version 18 videos every chance we get, so be sure to stay tuned for more exciting videos to come!

We would also love your feedback on what videos you think would benefit your clients’ experience with Tabs3 Software! If you have suggestions for new videos, don’t hesitate to email us at [email protected].

New Security Feature for Platinum Firms in Version 19

You’re probably aware that the data files were moved to a “Database” folder during the Version 19 conversion. Are your Platinum firms taking advantage of this change?

This file structure reorganization made it possible for us to implement our new Platinum Data Security feature. This feature allows firms to implement restricted network permissions so that only authorized users (typically Admin and IT users) have access to the Tabs3 Database folder. Users without full rights to the Database folder can only modify those files using Tabs3 software. This prevents unauthorized users from accessing the files on the network, but still allows them to work in the software. Restricting network access rights helps protect key Tabs3 data files from accidental or malicious attempts to compromise your important Tabs3 information.

Implementation of this feature is accomplished by changing write permissions to the Database folder on the server, not from within the Tabs3 software. More information can be found in Knowledge Base Article R11763, “Platinum Data Security.” This feature is available in all releases of Version 19 Platinum software.
