New Tabs3 and PracticeMaster logos

We encourage you to promote the fact that you sell and support Tabs3 and PracticeMaster.  Each year, we make a significant investment in the Tabs3 and PracticeMaster brands – online, in print and at tradeshows.  You can take advantage of our advertising when you display and promote Tabs3 and PracticeMaster.

As a reminder, to protect the investment that we make in our brands, we recently applied for and received registered trademark status (®)for Tabs3, PracticeMaster and the pinwheel mark that is part of our logo.  When we received the registered trademark status for these items our logo changed to reflect it.  That means that, to be current, each of you needs to update the Tabs3 and PracticeMaster logos on your website and in your marketing material as soon as possible.  You don’t need to throw away marketing material that uses the old logo, but you do need to use the new logo when you order new materials.

Also, please remember that any materials that mention Tabs3 and PracticeMaster must be approved by the STI Marketing Department prior to use.  If you have materials that need review, please contact Scott Baird at [email protected] or 402 423-1440.

You can find logos, as well as guidelines for how they should be used in the marketing section of the new eNews website – https://enews.tabs3.com.  If you have any questions, please be sure to contact your sales representative.

Version 15.2 Update Notices

All 15.1 users of Tabs3 and PracticeMaster software that are eligible for the Version 15.2 update will be notified via letter or e-mail by the end of October.   The easiest way for your clients to download the update is by accessing Help from within the Tabs3 or PracticeMaster software, then Internet Resources and Software Update.  Clients must already be on Version 15.1 to download this update.

Novell NetWare

As stated in August 2009, starting with Version 16, which is currently scheduled for release in 2010, Tabs3 and PracticeMaster software will no longer be tested on Novell networks. Novell users will, however, receive a basic level of support from our Technical Support Department, including guidance and how-to information regarding Tabs3 and PracticeMaster software functions. Please note that a known issue exists with the Novell NetWare Client for Microsoft Vista (all versions including Novell Client 2.0) that results in locking issues. Therefore, we recommend not using the Novell NetWare Client for Vista workstations with Version 15. Instead, we recommend installing Novell Native File Access on the server and having Vista workstations connect using the Common Internet File System (CIFS) protocol over TCP/IP instead of via the Novell Client for Windows Vista. If you are currently operating on a Novell network, please see KB Article R11262, “Statement on Novell NetWare Compatibility,” for more information.

Using Tabs3 Regular Payments

In a recent research project, we discovered that many Tabs3 clients are using separate fee and cost payments each time they receive a payment. It may be time for a payment refresher course for some of your clients. In older versions of Tabs3 (i.e., Version 12 and prior), it was necessary to enter separate fee, expense, and advance payments in order to automatically post GLS entries to the desired accounts. It is no longer necessary for your clients to enter separate fee, expense, and advance payments to accomplish this. Helping your clients to start using regular payments will simplify their day-to-day procedures, because regular payments apply to all due amounts, and additionally provide greater flexibility regarding how the payment is allocated. When using a Type 1 (regular) payment tcode, you can click the Edit Payment Allocation button to view, and even edit, how the payment has allocated to fee, expenses and advances. Complete information regarding the benefits of using regular payments is provided in KB article R11297, “Use Tabs3 Regular Payments Instead of Fee, Expense, and Advance Payments.”
